Bring Your Own Campaign
In the month of May, to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, our ‘Bring Your Own’ campaign launched in Trinity Walk shopping centre in Wakefield, to reaffirm to local women and girls that Care & Protect have got them covered. Read more in the Wakefield Express.
Our very own CEO Chris Patterson spoke to the wonderful Rima Amhed on her BBC Radio 4 Breakfast show. Chris rightly put it all into perspective. Our ambition is that everyone who menstruates has access to the products where they need them, when they need them. Chris told Rima “The cost of living and inflation over the recent years, incomes have been in decline, and because of that, ladies, women of all ages are having to make tough choices as to whether to buy period care, or in some aspects, food. When they’re caught short, they’re often using toilet roll or tissues, paper cloth, even socks, and we just find it abhorrent. It’s a basic human need”.

We were pleased to feature in the Yorkshire Post newspaper to be recognised for supporting our local area when it comes to access to period products. Having MP Jade Botterill show her support at our Bring Your Own campaign launch event in Wakefield was so special for us. Jade said “Too many women and girls are still being forced to make impossible choices between period products and other essentials. The “Bring Your Own” campaign is about changing that narrative, making it clear that access to period products is not a luxury, but a basic human right.”
